Shiny object syndrome is a disease of distraction. It happens whenever something new and exciting comes along and makes you want to change the direction in your life, health, finances, etc.
It’s similar to a young child who chases shiny objects. Once they catch it, play with it for a bit, they lose interests and then search for the next shiny item. Adults do the same, they search for the new trends, new ideas, new things to make them happy and it does temporarily and then they go on the search again.
Do you sometimes find yourself searching for the next new diet, or the next new business idea or even the newest cure for your health issues or disease? Only to find yourself excited for the moment and then eventually ending up back where you were before or even more frustrated? Perhaps you have shiny object syndrome.
What’s the best way to combat this? Priorities and goals.
Businesses, health, wealth, connections, love, community are not built over a day. They require dedication and time. If you are constantly jumping from one thing to the next, it will be hard to build the life that you want.
Each year, choose priorities or goals that you want to focus on. This way, when something new comes up, you can ask yourself, is this getting me closer to my goal. If not, then you put it off to try another time.
When I was a student, I had to prioritize my spending. To combat shiny object syndrome, I made a 30 day rule on things I wanted to buy. If I wanted to buy something, I would keep track on a list of what I wanted to buy and put the date 30 days later beside it. In 30 days, I would look at the item again and decide if I still wanted/needed it. This cut down a lots of spontaneous spending. If I still required an item, 30 days later, I would buy it at that time.
In my practice, I love learning and taking seminars. There also needs to be a limit as well. Firstly, I need time to integrate what I learned into my practice and secondly, my family life would suffer if I spent all my weekends away on training. Each year, I also decide which seminars I would take and which ones I need to evaluate for next year.
Is there an area in your life that needs more prioritizing? Leave a comment below.
Ever wonder why something isn’t happening for you fast enough? For example, you have chronic low back pain and despite trying ‘everything’, it’s not getting better. Perhaps you’re looking to get into a relationship and you just can’t find someone no matter how hard you try. You keep trying and trying and then you give up.
One thing to ask yourself before you give up on something i.e. finding love, your purpose, your finances is: am I in the right season for what I want to occur?
In Canada, we have 4 seasons: spring, summer, winter and fall. With each season brings with it certain characteristics. For example, summer is usually warm, the days are longer, etc. Actions that you would take in one season, you wouldn’t in another. You wouldn’t plant your seeds outside in the winter because they would die and the ground would be covered in snow.
Similar to the 4 seasons for the weather, there are 4 seasons to healing. They are, discover, transform, awaken and integrate, Each season of healing, refers to distinct periods in one’s healing and/or one’s life. In each season of healing, there are specific perceptions, actions, thoughts, developmental levels, experiences and energetic intelligences.
If the actions you are taking towards your goal are not being done in the right season, you may not see the fruits of your labour. If you’re working on your health and you are working out, which is a healthy thing, but you actually need to be resting, you are not doing the right actions for the correct season that your body needs to be in.

Sometimes in life, we’re handed experiences and situations that if we choose, give us the opportunity to change and do better.
I have not been eating well since my son was born. I kept saying that I should get back to making more meals at home and cutting down on junk food, etc but as the days and months went on, I did not. I always had some sort of excuse, there’s not enough time, I’m too tired, etc.
One day, life decided to give me the opportunity to change. My son, developed a rash on his face, which soon spread to his arms and legs. He had a case of eczema. As he hadn’t eaten any solid foods yet and was still exclusively breastfed, we had to look at my diet.
I had to remove some of the most common children's allergens from my diet and would slowly re-introduce them to see if his rash would go away and if he would flare. As soon as I found out that my diet could be a contributing factor to his itching, I was prepare to change. As it turns out, it would also be good for me too!
Instead of seeing this as an inconvenience, this is now an opportunity to show my child how to eat properly and instill proper nutrition from a young age, it will improve my health for years to come and the healthy of my family and then my community as well.
What instances in your life have you been called upon to change? Was it when you injured yourself? Developed an illness? Comment below.
This level of healing is where we explore the choice to stay in your head or to go with your intuition.
Your identity is only a mental concept that was created by your mind. It is not real. It is made up in your mind from a series of rules about how you think you should act, think and feel. Your perceived capabilities and also weaknesses/shortcomings are also included.
This concept of your identity then gets installed in your body at the level of your spinal cord as it passes through the spinal canal. Once there, your identity has a stranglehold on your spine and makes any thought of changing, painful. That’s why it’s often said that change is hard.
The work we do here, tricks the mind by going through you body. As the somato psychic wave passes through the level of your spinal canal, it clears out tension that anchors your identity to your spine, so you can more clearly see who you are.
Your chest rises and lifts, allowing you to connect the experience and the joy of just being. Once you visit this place, you know what is there and you look for ways to get back there. You find ways to make your life more supportive and you change.

Last week, we talked about the second level of healing where we expand and grow your comfort zone in your body and in your life.
In this next level of healing, 2 stretches are involved and we get the different parts of your body to communicate with each other. This is a new language for your body.
This level takes place either with you lying on your side or sometimes on your stomach. On your side, you may not feel too stable. This is done intentionally to destabilize old patterns in your body and in your life.
It’s the level of healing when you choose to question the rules that you’ve put on your life. I.e. I’m not good enough, I don't make enough money, I'm not smart enough, etc. Rules about love, relationships, finances, health, etc.
In this level of healing, you get to face yourself. It’s where you look that something that you promised yourself you’d take care of something long ago and instead stepped away. That time where you said you’d start to exercise and didn’t. When you said you’d eat better and didn’t. When you said you’d walk away from a relationship and you didn’t. Because this is difficult for most people, it’s hard to get through this level of healing.
This level of healing involves choice. You can choose to run back to level 1 or step up into something new.
In this level of healing, we also develop something called a somato psychic wave. It is 1 of 2 central pattern generators that is known to man at the current moment. The other being, walking. It is being studied at different physics labs in the world. For more info on the scientific articles: https://wiseworldseminars.com/network-spinal-analysis/ground-breaking-research
If you choose to get through this level of care, you may notice that your relationships with others change. You changed the rules about yourself and now are asking others to treat you differently. This can lead to difficulties as you went and change your rules and didn’t tell anyone else. It’s a good idea to come to office workshops at this time so you can have a community of supportive individuals.
