This level of healing is where we explore the choice to stay in your head or to go with your intuition.
Your identity is only a mental concept that was created by your mind. It is not real. It is made up in your mind from a series of rules about how you think you should act, think and feel. Your perceived capabilities and also weaknesses/shortcomings are also included.
This concept of your identity then gets installed in your body at the level of your spinal cord as it passes through the spinal canal. Once there, your identity has a stranglehold on your spine and makes any thought of changing, painful. That’s why it’s often said that change is hard.
The work we do here, tricks the mind by going through you body. As the somato psychic wave passes through the level of your spinal canal, it clears out tension that anchors your identity to your spine, so you can more clearly see who you are.
Your chest rises and lifts, allowing you to connect the experience and the joy of just being. Once you visit this place, you know what is there and you look for ways to get back there. You find ways to make your life more supportive and you change.

Last week, we talked about the second level of healing where we expand and grow your comfort zone in your body and in your life.
In this next level of healing, 2 stretches are involved and we get the different parts of your body to communicate with each other. This is a new language for your body.
This level takes place either with you lying on your side or sometimes on your stomach. On your side, you may not feel too stable. This is done intentionally to destabilize old patterns in your body and in your life.
It’s the level of healing when you choose to question the rules that you’ve put on your life. I.e. I’m not good enough, I don't make enough money, I'm not smart enough, etc. Rules about love, relationships, finances, health, etc.
In this level of healing, you get to face yourself. It’s where you look that something that you promised yourself you’d take care of something long ago and instead stepped away. That time where you said you’d start to exercise and didn’t. When you said you’d eat better and didn’t. When you said you’d walk away from a relationship and you didn’t. Because this is difficult for most people, it’s hard to get through this level of healing.
This level of healing involves choice. You can choose to run back to level 1 or step up into something new.
In this level of healing, we also develop something called a somato psychic wave. It is 1 of 2 central pattern generators that is known to man at the current moment. The other being, walking. If you choose to get through this level of care, you may notice that your relationships with others change. You changed the rules about yourself and now are asking others to treat you differently. This can lead to difficulties as you went and change your rules and didn’t tell anyone else. It’s a good idea to come to office workshops at this time so you can have a community of supportive individuals.
In the previous article, we discussed the first level of healing.
After we’ve unlocked the limited areas in your spine and there is more awareness of your body through breath, we being the next level of healing which involves stretching your spine.
We don’t do stretches before this because your body is too wound up. Imagine tuning the strings on a guitar. If you keep tightening them and stretching them, eventually, they will snap. Similar to your body, if it’s tense and tight, we don’t want to stretch it beyond what it can handle and snap.
Along with the physical stretching of your spine which is good for increasing range of motion, working your tense muscles, increasing flexibility, injury prevention, etc. we do an emotional stretch.
The emotional stretch helps you to grow outside of your comfort zone and expand your boundaries.
In life, your comfort zone in your body is the range of motion that your spine can move through and that also defines the range of emotion that you allow your body to experience.
We make the areas we stretch even more receptive to the feelings that we’ve been trying to avoid and in doing this, you feel the emotion of a few minutes and you see how much effort and energy it took to avoid this. You realise that it’s ok to go there and your comfort zone expands.

I’m often asked how the work that we do in the office is translated into what you experience in your life. Here’s how.
Firstly, when someone first comes into the office, we do a complete consultation and examination to see if our care is right for you.
We assess your body for what may be going on physically and explore emotional and mental stresses in your life that may also be contributing to your unique situation. After, we create recommendations specifically for you.
Almost every patient starts off with the first level of healing. This level is about self discovery and they learn what isn’t working well in their body or in their life.
In this level of healing we build the awareness of the body through your breath. You get a chance to notice how you hold tension in your body and how you’ve hidden physical, emotional and mental stress. When you don’t feel your emotions in the moment and hide it deep within your body, over time, your body will run out of places to hide your tension and this can lead to illness and/or disease.
Where you have locked your feelings in your body, is where you have limited the range of motion your spine can experience.
In this first level of healing, we use gentle light touch treatments and breathing exercises to work to unlock the areas in your spine that are limited.

That’s it! You’re frustrated with your body. It’s not healing at the rate you want it to. You’ve had a cough or cold for 3 weeks now….andyou're sick and tire of being sick.
This had been my reality for the past couple week and I was fed up. I even started saying to myself “how come my body can’t heal? Why is this happening to me? And then I get upset at my body….after a few minutes, I discovered that this line of thinking wasn’t helping. So this is what I did….
I ask different questions to contradict what my mind was telling me. Instead, I asked “what are recent examples of my body healing?” Then I remembered that I pulled a muscle and it was much better, the bruise on my shin is nearly gone and the scrape on my elbow is healed. How can I say that my body is not healing when clearly, it is?
This allowed me to see that my mind was playing tricks on me. My body is in fact healing! It simply needs more time or more sleep, or help in the form of supplements, herbal remedies etc,
The trick is to find evidence that contradicts what your mind is telling you.
If your mind is telling you, having a bigger house, nicer car, making more money, etc will make you happy. Ask yourself the reasons for why this may not be true. If I had a bigger house...what I be happier? Well, personally, it may mean more grass to cut, a bigger mortgage, more rooms to clean, etc. That would not make me happy at all.
If my mind said that being in any relationship would make me happy. I would ask, how many people are unhappy in relationships. It's got to be a good relationship for me and sometimes, that takes patience and time.
Before you want what someone else has because you think it will bring you happiness, ask yourself if it really will.
Practice this technique of questioning your mind and let me know how it goes.
The fourth and fifth healing intelligences, are the soul intelligence and the universal intelligence. These spiritual intelligences allow us to express our gifts in our lives.
The soul healing intelligence is a place of knowing. This is different from the thought healing intelligences where it is a place of thoughts.
If you can connect to the soul healing intelligence, it allows you to bring peace, ease, flow, and love to your life and what you do.
This is the space where you can let go of yourself so you can fill it with something new.
There is no way to think yourself to the soul healing intelligence. There are only questions you can ask to get you closer: Where’s the rhythm? How can I express more love now?
The final healing intelligence is the universal healing intelligence. This is the place where expressions like “we are all one” and “we are all connected” come from. This is where we find out that we are not separate from all others here.
We may be individual beings but together, we make up a whole. This is where community lies.
For example, if we take a cup and scoop water out of the sea, the water inside the cup is still part of the sea. Similar to us humans, we are individuals but we are also a part of the collective sea of people.
This is the place where the right people or things, show up for you at exactly the right time, when you need it.

The third healing intelligence, the thought intelligence, is broken up into 2 parts: the lower thought and the upper thought. Our last article talked about the lower mind intelligence and now we move on to the upper mind.
The upper mind is where we observe our thoughts and the lower mind. It’s where we ponder things, have revelations and gain insight on ourselves.
This is often known as the space of the observer in meditation. When you sit down to meditate or when you observe your thoughts, you may be able to recognize that you are not your thoughts. You are able to watch your thoughts go by. The person observing the thoughts go by is the upper mind healing intelligence.
With this healing intelligence, we can decide which rules still matter to us and which ones from our past we can let go of. This is where you can change your story about who you are!
Here is an exercise to get to the upper metal intelligence. Sit for 5 minutes and observe the thoughts that fill your mind.
When you realise that you are having thoughts enter and leave your mind, recognize that you must be observing them from a higher level of thought.

The third healing intelligence, the thought intelligence, is broken up into 2 parts: the lower thought and the upper thought.
A thought allows you to freeze an event in time so you can play it over and over again. Why would this be important? So you can take a closer look at an event, deconstruct and examine it.
This is done for protection purposes. It allows you to ask yourself if this event is something you need to be concerned about or if this something that you need to protect yourself form.
The lower thought intelligence makes rules for what something is, what it means and what it’s supposed to be. We have rules for what it means to love, be loved, hate, feel rejected, sad. Etc. These rules were established by you through what others told you and your own personal experiences. Most of your rules were form early on in life.
Onces a rule is triggered, it sets of a specific thoughts, emotions, behaviours, etc that correspond to the rule. For example, if in grade 1, Miss Smith told you that you were stupid, you would store that in a file somewhere. Imagine 25 years later and 5 diplomas later, you get stuck on a problem, your brain will say, that’s because you’re stupid.
This is why it’s important for us to examine our reactions and why we have them. Most often, when there’s an upset, it’s because one of our rules have been broken in some way.

The second intelligence is the emotional healing intelligence. The purpose of an emotion is to regulate your life force to cause you to take rapid action, create change and drive you towards a purpose.
The emotional intelligence is tied to the life force (see previous blog on the Bio-energetic healing intelligence) because it directs the flow of the life force. For example, when you experience the emotion of happy, your energy moves upwards in your body. Conversely, when you are feeling sad, your energy will flow downwards and towards your feet.
An emotion is designed to last minutes to hours, at most. It runs through your body so you can make rapid change. Imagine you are treated poorly by sometime and you get mad and angry. This emotional energy will allow you to say “Enough of this! I will not let this happen to me again!”. Then you will take the necessary steps and actions to keep this from happening again to you.
When an emotion lasts longer than a few hours, it is no longer an emotion but a state. You can experience the emotion of anger or you can know someone who’s always angry and therefore in a state of anger. In order to sustain a state, you require specific behaviours, structures or posture of your body, actions and thoughts to create the state over and over again.
Unlike the bio-energetic healing intelligence which is present in all living beings, the emotional intelligence is not. Some animals have this and other’s don’t. A snake may have a preliminary version of this intelligence to be able to react to it’s environment.
People who have difficulty making changes in their life or taking action often don’t have enough emotional energy expression to do that.

The first intelligence is the bio-energetic or life force intelligence. Life force flows through you and allows you to effect your biochemistry in your body.
Life force drives your body’s processes and makes sure that the proper chemical and physiological reactions take place are the correct time to ensure that you stay alive. Ie. heart beats at a certain rate, lungs expand and contract at specific intervals. Life force is important for activity in your cells, connective tissues and for organ function, growth and repair.
Life force is present in all living things and it’s role is to keep your body functioning at baseline. It keeps your safe, secure and alive.
When you are at rest, your life force is slow. Movement is what allows you to change your life force. With increased heart rate, respiration and body temperature i.e. exercise, your body’s biochemistry kicks into high gear.
When your life force isn’t flowing properly, you feel lethargic and if it becomes stagnant, you start to feel ill. The lack of life force does not make you ill directly, your body will lack the ability to eliminate the toxins and move waste in and out, due to the lack of life force flow. When there is disease in the body, there is usually a problem with life force.
When we first start off working together, the treatment sessions are usually focused on getting your life force moving properly again throughout your body.
