Social Media Break

Two months ago, I did an experiment to take a social media break.   I had been noticing that the negative outside world had been starting to infiltrate my inner bubble....more than usual.  I decided to monitor my sources of information and discovered that my outside influences had been given too much of my attention.  I had been on social media too often, watching too much tv and listening to the news and radio.  My sources of information had started to weigh me down.

This lead be to a 1 week news detox.

On my week off of media, I’ve decided to stop social media for 1 week, turn off the radio when driving in the car and going out for walks instead of watching tv.  I committed to reading more, listening to podcasts that fuel my dream and taking time to call and reconnect with those who are close to me.  Most importantly, reconnect to Me!

As soon as I made the decision, I felt much better.

Here’s what I learned from my week off:
  • I missed being me.  I used to read a lot and I had stopped that for a while.  With my extra time, I was able to read again.  I finshed a book that I had been 'trying' to read for months.
  • Connection with those important to me.  When we turned off the tv during dinner, we could talk about our day and really listen to each other.
  • It was easier to wake up thankful.  Each morning, I listed 5 things I was grateful for before getting out of bed, which helped set the tone for the rest of my day.
  • When you get back online, you find out you didn’t miss much.  The world online was as I had left it.
  • Those that needed to contact me, picked up the phone to call.

What Our Clients Are Saying

"I barely have the words to thank you for the positive changes you have facilitated in my physical health and well being. When I started, I was stressed and experiencing ower back pain and mobility issues. In the past three months I have experienced complete relaxation at your warm and skilled hands and learned to carry this feeling through to my day to day life.  You have taken me from a lifelong habit of worry and anxiety to a far more balanced place of calm and understanding. You are truly a gift, Dr. Amanda. Thanks so much for your care and your gift of healing."
