On Jan 1 of this year, I joined a group of individuals who committed to doing something every day for the entire year.
We wanted to see, who we could become if we really stuck to something and made no excuses.
My goals were to meditate daily and do something for my business.
I made it all the way until this past week and then I forgot to do one of my goals.
I didn't realise I had forgotten until the next day when I became aware that I had not meditated the previous day. I froze in place. How could I have gone on for so long and then forgotten?
I purposly did both goals as soon as I woke up in the morning so I wouldn't forget. But, I did.
So many emotions and thoughts ran thought me.
What if I don't tell the group? As we self-report our goals, this was an option. But, I knew that this wasn't authemtic and congruent with the person I want to be.
Relief. I don't need to be perfect anymore. Sure, I broke my streak but now, there's a freedom of not being bound to it.
Anger. Do I really want to start this again?
What will others think of me?
Acceptance. I told my group and started again.
Perspective. Once I accepted that I did not meet my goal and got the more neagative thoughts out of my system, more positive ones flowed.
Wow, now I will be ahead of next year's goals!
You did so great stucking to your goal for so long! I'm so proud of you.
Let's celebrate how far we've come on this journey.
