Sometimes in life, we’re handed experiences and situations that if we choose, give us the opportunity to change and do better. I have not been eating well since my son was born. I kept saying that I should get back to making more meals at home and cutting down on junk food, etc but as the days and months went on, I did not. I always had some sort of excuse, there’s not enough time, I’m too tired, etc. One day, life decided to give me the opportunity to change. My son, developed a rash on his face, which soon spread to his arms and legs. He had a case of eczema. As he hadn’t eaten any solid foods yet and was still exclusively breastfed, we had to look at my diet. I had to remove some of the most common children's allergens from my diet and would slowly re-introduce them to see if his rash would go away and if he would flare. As soon as I found out that my diet could be a contributing factor to his itching, I was prepare to change. As it turns out, it would also be good for me too! Instead of seeing this as an inconvenience, this is now an opportunity to show my child how to eat properly and instill proper nutrition from a young age, it will improve my health for years to come and the healthy of my family and then my community as well. What instances in your life have you been called upon to change? Was it when you injured yourself? Developed an illness? Comment below.
