I love my craft and the people I am privileged to work with each and every day. Each morning that I wake up, I have amazing opportunities. I get to connect with people. Not about the little things in life but the big things that make up life. At work, I belong to a community of encouraging people. We hold space for others to heal and grow. When I meet a new patient, I get to really know them. Not just their pain but them. What makes them who they are. My craft is in helping others. What a wonderful gift! I have not always thought this way about my work. I used to see it as paperwork, doing workshops which terrified me and meeting people without knowing what to say to them. So what changed? I shifted from doing a job to working a craft. Robin Sharma once said “A job is only just a job if you choose to see it as a job. - Why would you lose the opportunity to leverage what you do every day? To grow your happiness? To grow your energy? To allow you to release more of your talents to the world? To allow you to help more people? Why would you miss that opportunity by falling into the trap of thinking, “This is just my job. I’m just getting up in the morning, working 9 to 5, going down to the coal mine every day.”?” You have a choice as to how you decide to view your work each day. Choose to see it as just a means to an end and you will create just that. Choose to see it as a gift or opportunity to practice a craft and that is what will appear. So, how will you choose today?
