Healing means that we leave our old stories behind us.
Our body is always healing and regenerating itself. We get a brand new body every 7-10 years. People often come into my office and say that they are still hurting from an accident that they had from 15 years ago. Since then, every cell that’s been in the accident is no longer there. They have a whole new body, so why is it that the body still remembers the accident?
Our cells need to forget who they are being in order to reset themselves. In other words, some pattern in their life, physical, emotional, mental or spiritual, is being repeated over and over again. The cells need to break this pattern.
Recovering health involves being fully present to our experience. Going fully into the pain and saying to it “tell me more.”
Health has the word “heal” in it. Healing is the outward manifestation of a inward discovery.
Einstein said that insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. For example, if you lose your car keys, you’ll go look for them in spot #1. When they are not there, you move onto spot #2, if they are still not there, you move on to spot #3. Now, when they are not in spot #3, you go back and search spot #1,2 and 3 again, thinking you missed something. If that happens over and over again, that’s insanity. This also happens in our health.
We keep eating the same things, thinking the same thoughts and experiencing the same emotions and we expect our body to change, heal or do something that it has never done before. What we need for change, is to be somebody that we’ve never been. New energy and actions, behaviours and structures need to be added to the system (body) in order to get something that it didn’t have before.
Healing takes responsibility. It means acknowledging that we may have had a role in getting to where we are. It means not blaming anyone else or playing victim. Many people will not heal because they are afraid of hearing the truth. As long as healing comes from the outside or someone else outside of us, does the healing for us, our outside world doesn’t have to change. This is the easier path as everything gets to stay the same. It’s the harder path is responsibility because once you know the truth, your life changes.
