When you say "I am happy. I am sad. I am angry.", does that mean that you are the emotion that you say you are?
What if I told you that you are not your emotions?
You may be wondering, "who am I, then?".
You are a person who is experiencing emotions.
Emotions are designed to pass through us, and create change in some way. They are short term and usually less than a few minutes.
If you notice that your emotions are lasting longer, it's because you are stuck in a state. A state of anger, a state of fear, a state of sadness. You either keep replaying a circumstances or the words someone says, over and over again. You then keep experiencing the emotion.
When you experience an intense emotion, often, your body goes into an unconscious state and you react to your emotions.
Once activated, your sympathetic nrvous system (fight/flight/freeze) takes over and tries to defend you.
There is another way!
If you fully expericenced your emotions and allow them to move through you, you could have a different reaction in your body and in your life.
Try observing your reactions and being conscious of your emotions.
