Last week, I was stopped at a red light in my car waiting for it to turn green when I was hit from behind. As we were both stopped, the hit was at a slow speed and there wasn’t much damage to my car or the other. Both of the drivers were ok and for that I feel blessed. After realizing I was hit, I signaled to the other driver to pull over to check the damaged. As I did that, I had the awareness to observe my body and how it reacted. At first, there was no noticeable reaction. It was not until 5 minutes later that I observed changes. It was as if my body actually realised what it had gone through. My heart started to race, my face was flushed and my hands started to shake. All of this from a tiny car accident! Later on, when I got back into my car to continue on my journey, I noticed that my driving had changed. I tended to brake sooner than I would normally and allow for LOTS of space between vehicles. I was hyper reactive and aware. This hyper driving lasted for even a few days later. Then it occurred to me, if this is what happens to our body during a minor incident, what do we store after a major one? What are the physical, emotional and mental layers we have stored in our bodies from traumatic experiences. What happens in the case of multiple traumas accumulated over time? It is no wonder that people who come in to see me have have neuro abnormality in their body. The day after, I went to my chiropractor to get my nervous system checked. After feeling my neck and spine, he asked if I had my head turned while I was hit. I looked back and it was possible because I was making a left hand turn and that light would have been place on that side. My chiropractor was able to work on it and release the tension. If you or someone you know has been in an accident or gone through recent emotional trauma, please get their nervous system checked. Today's blog is from my August Update.
